What got me out of my earlier funk? This video. It's River! And Green Day! And the chosen clips actually have something to do with the lyrics at hand!

I'd forgotten how much I liked this song. Thank god it never got released as a single or I'd hate its guts now. (I used to love "Wake Me Up When September Ends." Damn you, radio. Damn you to Hades.)

Oh how I love that, Green Day plus River = Heaven on toast.

I had the same problem with 'When I come around' I still skip over it on the CD. XP

Luckily, when Dookie came out I was a little kid with atrocious taste in music, so I was never exposed to Green Day until junior high and their Nimrod album. "Discovering" the older songs was so much fun.
