The Reunion
Smiling in satisfaction, Mary Anne hung her graduation robe up in her closet. As of three hours ago, she was a high school graduate. She could still hear the cheers of the crowd as she'd walked across the stage to shake the principal's hand. Her dad and Sharon and Dawn had been out in the audience snapping picture after picture, proud of her during her moment. She'd gotten to wear a gold cord as well for being on the honor roll.
Chad would've thought it'd been so cool. If he'd been there. Well, she didn't know for sure if he hadn't been; the crowd had been huge. He had promised and he wouldn't break a promise to her.
It's just that this wasn't how she'd pictured her graduation day. She'd pictured coming down the stairs to find Chad waiting for her with a dozen red roses, leaping into his arms, and kissing him senseless in front of everyone.
Sighing, she shut her closet door and checked her phone. One new message. Heart rate accelerating, she listened to it.
"Hey, sweet heart, congratulations. You look so beautiful up there." He was shouting to be heard over a crowd, it sounded like. "Excellent work, I'm so proud of you. I'll talk to you soon, okay? Bye."
He'd been there! Squealing, she dialed his number and before he'd barely said hello, she blurted, "When can I see you?"
"Tomorrow ok?" he said, chuckling.
But she wanted to see him now. Graduation night was supposed to be their first night back together! Unless he'd changed his mind about them.
"Why tomorrow? Are... are you busy tonight?" she asked, fearing the answer.
"Yeah, actually."
"Oh." Her heart sank and she sagged down onto her bed. She could picture some Botox-ed bimbo over at his place right now, rubbing his back and laughing at the silly little girl he'd been stringing along all year.
"I'm cleaning up my place so you can come over tomorrow."
Thank God. Mary Anne let out a relieved breath, hoping he didn't know how worried she'd been. "Sounds fun. What time do you want me?"
"Mmm, how about five? I'll get carry out from somewhere."
"Sounds great." From downstairs, she could hear her father calling her and groaned. "I have to go. I love you."
"Alright, see you tomorrow."
Is he ever going to say it? "See ya." She hung up the phone and tried not to let her disappointment show when she went downstairs to enjoy a celebratory graduation dinner.
~*~
Chad looked his place over and was satisfied with the results. The dump cleaned up well, apparently. It'd probably look nicer once Mary Anne moved in, so she could needle him to pick up his things and he could learn by her fine example.
A tentative knock at the door made him grin and he hurried to the door to open it before taking a deep breath. Can't look too eager. After he'd calmed down he opened the door.
"Heyyyy, Mary A--"
She leaped on him, knocking him back a few steps. "I've missed you so much!"
Laughing, Chad backed inside and shut the door behind them. "I've missed you too." He took a moment to gaze into her sparkling eyes and then lowered his head to kiss her hungrily.
When they parted to breathe, Mary Anne asked, "Why didn't you stick around last night? I thought you hadn't come at all until I got your message."
Chad licked his lips, tasting the cherry lip gloss she'd left on his mouth. "Well, I couldn't really just walk up to you and your dad. There'd be all kinds of... questions. And I didn't want anything to ruin your day."
"He's going to have to know about you eventually. Have you got my necklace?"
"Yup. It's in my room. Got my ring?"
She reached down her shirt and pulled out his ring on a chain. "It was a little big."
He chuckled, remembering what a loose fit it had been on her thumb. "Yeah. I'm glad you wear it though."
"I'm sorry the locket wasn't manly enough for you to wear. But it's my most valued possession so..." she trailed off as she nuzzled his cheek.
Gently, he set her down on her feet. "Well, I've taken good care of it for you. Let me go get it."
"Okay. And you can have your ring..." She lifted the chain up over her head and he watched as she gave the ring a little kiss and then set it on the counter.
Smiling, he headed back to his room and called over his shoulder, "The food's on the table. I'll be right in." He went to the closet and opened it, pulling out his zip up sweatshirt he wore during class and pulled the necklace from his pocket. He carried it with him everyday and touched it whenever he thought about her. The necklace had been like a worry ball in that way, touching the necklace and worrying that she was unhappy or that she'd met someone else, someone more her age.
But here she was. And she still wanted him.
"This looks great!" Mary Anne called.
"Yeah, I thought you might like it." He walked back out to the living room and lowered the necklace into her out-stretched hand. "Here you go."
She smiled, putting it on and then wrapping her arms around him in a big hug. "Thank you. For everything but... mostly for waiting for me."
"Thank you too." He kissed the end of her nose and grinned when she giggled and rubbed the end of her nose. "Let's eat."
When he sat down in one of the chairs, she curled up in his lap. "I got my favorite chair back!"
He laughed. "Hey, it's my lap warmer!"
Giggling, Mary Anne reached out for one of the carryout cartons and opened it, spearing a bit of veggie and rice and holding it up to his mouth. "Open up."
Obediently, he opened his mouth and she ate the food instead, grinning at him.
"Not fair, Miss Spier," he said, trying to sound stern.
Mary Anne pouted at him. "I'm sorry, Mr. Shelten. Okay, for real this time, open up." She scooped up more veggies and rice and held it to his mouth.
Raising his eyebrows as if to say, "You'd better be for real," he opened his mouth.
She gently put the fork in his mouth and let him eat. "There, see? I love you after all," she said with a dopy smile.
Chad chewed the food and swallowed, smiling back at her. "Thanks." He kissed her softly. "I love you, too."
He jumped in surprised when she dropped everything on the table, wide-eyed. "Say again?" she said, looking stunned.
"Say what again?" he asked, feigning confusion.
The hurt disappointment on her face made him regret teasing her. "... Never mind. I just... Nothing." She looked away from him sadly.
Laughing softly, he pulled her face back to look at him. "I was kidding about not knowing what you were talking about. The part I was serious about was loving you."
"I've been hoping and hoping you'd say it... every email, every phone conversation..." She shrugged, still looking sad. "I thought I'd put you off by saying it so soon."
"No. Didn't put me off, just stunned me was all. Besides, being apart made me realize how much I love you, but I wasn't going to say it if it couldn't be in person. That's why I waited so long."
"Stunned you?" she repeated, now looking worried. "I'm sorry."
"Being stunned isn't always a bad thing. It made me realize that this was serious, you know? That you weren't just humoring an old man. That you really cared about me." He shrugged. "And, I mean, I know you said you cared for me, but hearing 'I love you' made it finally feel real, you know?"
She nodded her understanding. "Like having you right there in my room made it all real for me. I had your smell in my pillow for weeks." Smiling at the memory, she traced the scar on his cheek.
"Hopefully I smell good?" he asked, suddenly worried about B.O.
Mary Anne bit her lip, nodding. "You should have seen me when the smell faded..."
"What happened?" he asked, chuckling.
She gave him an embarrassed half smile. "What do you think? I worried Dad, I cried so much."
Moved, Chad framed her pretty face in his hands. "You cried because you lost my smell? That's kinda the sweetest thing ever, Spier."
"Well.. I missed you." She turned her head to nuzzle his palm. "I guess you handled it better than I did."
"I don't know that I did. I have a dent in my pillow because I hugged it every night." He laughed off those months of longing for her. "Does that count as not handling it well?"
Charmed by that, she hugged him tightly around the neck. "I guess your pillow will be lonely now that I'm back."
"Sure will be. Oh well; sacrifices must be made." He opened his mouth and let her put in another forkful of food. Once he chewed and swallowed, he asked, "How'd this year go for you?"
"Way too slow. But I did well in school and I made some friends, went to prom, and Dad's going to fund a trip to Europe in like, July or so. I'm going with Dawn and that should be fun."
"Went to prom?" He could feel himself getting jealous, picturing her on some pizza-faced kid's arm. "With who?"
"This really shy, kind of nerdy boy from my civics class. He was really nice and told me all about his action figure collection."
"Oh okay," he said, relaxing. A pity date. That was like Mary Anne; she could've had anyone she wanted but helping someone else less fortunate was more important.
"Mmm hmm. I had Dawn take some pictures of me in my dress if you wanna see."
"I do, yes."
She rested her head on his shoulder. "Am I getting too heavy for you? I can use a chair like a big girl."
Not ready to be apart from her just yet he shook his head. "Nah, you're fine right where you are."
"Good, I'm comfy." She waited a beat before saying, "I wanted Dawn to fix me up with a boy from the school so I could see you again. But I talked myself out of it. I think you might have gotten mad at me if I had gone, huh?"
Might have?! Chad's eyes widened and he nodded.
"I thought so. It's just... I had this vision of dancing and you cutting in. It was nice."
He smiled sadly. "I couldn't do that. Besides, it wouldn't have happened; I wasn't there."
"Where were you?"
"Here at home."
"If I'd gone and told you about it, would you have come?"
"Probably not." Seeing the hurt look on her face, he added, "The temptation to take you into the janitor's closet would have been high."
Her eyes darkened. "I would've let you, too."
"See, now that might have been a problem."
She purred and he could see she was getting aroused by the notion. "Not really..."
He laughed. "In the big spectrum of things, I mean."
Unconsciously, she started to rub her back against his front. "It would have made Mary Anne and Chad happy..."
"Mmm hmm. Until Chad went to jail. Then he'd be a sad man." He slid a hand under her shirt to lightly skim along her tummy.
"No. They would've ran away. To Mexico." Getting silly, she started to giggle.
"The scenarios you come up with..." He squeezed her side, tone getting all gravelly.
"Mary Anne would've become a dancer and Chad would be her bodyguard, to keep the men's paws off." She turned her head to give him a hot, possessive kiss. "She's his girl."
Chad grabbed her tightly. "She is."
"Prove it," she said tartly and then nipped his lip.
Growling, he pushed the food off the table and tossed her down on the surface, kissing her roughly. Moaning, she let her thighs fall open and he nestled between them. Once he was cradled where he'd been so longing to be, he gentled and dropped kisses down her neck and throat.
"Kiss me here..." she whispered, gesturing to her chest.
Chad had her sit up and tugged off her t-shirt, tossing it aside. Then he swiftly removed her bra and cupped her breasts in his hands. "Here?"
"Uh huh," she whimpered, sinking back.
As gently as he could, he pressed soft kisses to her nipples, feeling them bud against his lips. When she moaned in encouragement he started to suck gradually harder and kept at it until she started grinding her hips against his in rhythm with his sucks.
"You want me, sweetheart?" he asked, knowing the answer.
"Yeeeees!" she groaned. "Don't tease, baby. Oh please, please don't tease."
"I won't," he told her reassuringly, and unbuttoned her capris, sliding them down her legs as well as her panties. "I'll be good to you, sweet girl. No teasing."
"Love you," she mewled, lifting her hips as he unzipped his jeans and pushed them down along with his boxers.
"Oh, I love you, too, sweetheart. Love you so much I don't know what I'm gonna do." He brushed the tip of his erection against her entrance, watching her eyes roll back in her head at the sensation.
"Gonna be good to me," she whispered shakily. "Be so good to me, baby."
"Yeah," he said, swallowing thickly. "That's what I'm gonna do." She was so wet that he was able to enter her in one slow glide.
"Mmmm." Mary Anne tilted her head to the side, looking up at him from under her eyelashes. "Want it fast."
"Then fast you're gonna get it," he growled and pulled back to slam back into her. She was so excited and she had no difficulty in matching his rhythm. Distantly, Chad was worried they were going to break his table, but looking at the bliss and love in his sweet girl's face, he knew that a visit to Home Depot later would be worth it if they did.
Now she was chanting his name, her voice getting higher and more frantic sounding. Chad lowered his head and sucked hard on her left breast, pressing her clit with his thumb and she came, babbling incoherently. Three more thrusts and Chad followed her, stumbling back onto the chair, taking her with him.
He held her on his softened erection as he stroked her hair, both of them coming down from their powerful climax.
"Chad?"
"Mmm?"
"Your pants are around your ankles."
Chad looked. "They are."
"And you left your shirt on."
"Yup."
"That's not right."
"Nope."
"Better fix it."
Grinning, Chad kicked his pants away and then gently unwrapped Mary Anne's arms from around his neck to tug his shirt up and off. He smiled when she snuggled close once more.
"Can I see your bedroom?"
"Yeah. There was something in there I've been wanting to show you."
"What's that?"
"My bed."
"Oooh, let's go."
~*~
"So how are we going to end this?" Chad asked.
Mary Anne considered him thoughtfully. "I have an idea I've been thinking of."
"Yeah? What is it?"
~*~
And Chad carried Mary Anne into the bedroom where they made passionate love that night and every night that came after that. They lived happily ever after in suburbia, raising three children.
~*~
"Nice," Chad said, reading over her shoulder. "But sweetheart, we don't have three kids; we have only-" He stopped when he saw the smile on her face. "Ohhh, sweetheart. Yeah? Are you-?"
She nodded, smile widening.
Whooping, Chad tackled her to the bed with kisses.
