Jayne splashed the cold water from the basin onto his face, trying desperately to recall what happened the previous night. He remembered going to that bar with Mal and Zoe and meeting his girl not that long after.

He winced. He’d promised he’d stop drinking, she’d talked about Sir Osis or something and he’d agreed to stop, figuring she couldn’t be there to babysit him every second and maybe the occasional beer wouldn’t do that much damage.

At first she’d been upset to find him in a bar, drink in hand. Rightly so, since he'd made a promise and broken it. But then she’d gone all weirdly calm and that shoulda tipped him off right there. She’d even gotten a few drinks for him, opting to only get a little girly pink drink for herself.

Why the hell did she let him drink so much he blacked out?? Sir Osis coulda eaten his liver and then where’d he be? Liverless and Riverless, that’s where.

Grabbing a towel, Jayne dried off his face and tossed it absently at the chair and ran a hand down his front. He paused when his hand brushed some gauze taped to his stomach. Had he gotten into a fight? Now that he thought about it, his skin was feelin’ kinda achey. But not the kind of ache that usually came from a knife fight.

Suspiciously, Jayne peeled the bandage away and gaped into the mirror in horror.

There on his stomach was a cheery pink elephant in a tutu.

River!” Jayne bellowed.

As if she’d been waiting for her cue, the hatch opened and she climbed down the ladder, pausing on the bottom step to glare at him.

“When I say ‘no drinking’ I’m not saying it just to hear my own voice. I mean no drinking. Petunia is there to serve as a reminder.”

Jayne pointed at the elephant, nostrils flaring. “I take my shirt off when I work, everyone’s gonna see this! What the hell am I supposed to do, ya crazy woman?!”

She frowned thoughtfully. “Well. Perhaps you can take up belly dancing lessons. Then it will look like Petunia is pirouetting. It gets dull out in the black; it could make an entertaining dinner show.”

As River left the room howling, Jayne put the bandage back into place and muttered, “That’s what I get for marryin’ a smartass.”

THE END

You're brilliant.

I love you

*giggles*

I'm going to have pink elephants pirouetting through my brain all afternoon as I try to do my FINM2401 assignment.

*gigglesnort* Well, there could be worse things going through your brain.

Of course, there could be better things as well... *thinks of shirtless!Jayne*

Oh yes.

Like last semester, when I got a smutty text from my boy about 2 hrs before my exam and all I could see in my mind's eye was him strutting about in a terry toweling bathrobe open and twirling the ends of the waistrope.

It really didn't help my concentration...

LOL Yeah, I can see how that could be distracting.

Yes.

Nearly as distracting as the memory of him prancing about in my shoes, which are about half the size of his feet. For entirely different reasons, of course...

*backs away from that one* All righty, then!

You imagine a 6'5" guy trying to walk in womens AUS size 9 shoes that have little cherries printed all over...

He was trying to make me laugh because I was stressed.

He succeeded.

Hells yes.

Some may disagree, because I rarely get to see him (up til 3 weeks ago we were both poor uni students, now I'm just the poor uni student and he's a poor graduate with a low paying job).

Well, that's pretty tough, but it's not going to be like that forever though, right?

Nope. Another year and a half til I graduate, and then I'm moving there (he's in Canberra so Sydney works as well being driving distance... closer than a 2hr flight that's for sure).

The time will fly. I've noticed it does that as I've gotten older. That scares me a little but in your case it'll be good. :D

Scares me too, sometimes.

Ran into an old friend from primary the other day... they didn't recognise me - that was scary (seeing as all I did was get taller, 9 years older, and boobs).

Ohhh, running into people from your childhood sort of creeps me out. I'd rather remember them as they were then see how they turned out, nine times out of ten.

Same here.

Half the guys are creeps.

The few that were sweet then - are still sweet. I like to run into them, though. One I run into on a fairly regular basis. It's nice (he squishes the life out of me, yet we don't have each other's phone numbers. Silly, isn't it?)

Yeah, I've noticed the boys rarely turn out well... It must be some weird genetic thing.

Must be.

Lucky we've found some of the better ones around...

Now that's some incentive to stop drinking.

"“When I say ‘no drinking’ I’m not saying it just to hear my own voice. I mean no drinking. "
I love that line, I can imagine her standing there with her hands on her hips looking all stern as she says it.

LOL Yes, that's how I pictured her, too. But she's not doing it to be mean, she's just worried about Jayne's health!

Afternoon Delight!!!!!!

Pink elephant on Jayne's abs....oh great! Now I won't be able to think about anything else for a week! :)

You have a wonderful talent for bring the funny. Favorite line was : Sir Osis coulda eaten his liver and then where’d he be? Liverless and Riverless, that’s where.

But the whole thing was so funny I could picture it happening. Three cheers for River!!!
