*beams* Yay, the kids sucked in another reader!! You didn't read all these in one day, did you?? Because some of these damn things are really long! *looks at Bad Moon Rising* But in all seriousness, thank you. I'd like to use the kids in original work so it's nice to know they don't make people run from the room barfing. (That's a lovely image right there.)

I'm grinning like an idiot that you said this makes you feel like a little kid again. Writing these has made me really ponder my own childhood and I've sort of re-written mine but with way more understanding and affectionate parents (particularly a way, way, WAY better dad than I ever had) and a brother and sister who have each other's back while still having sibling moments where they get on each other's nerves or fight. (Oh, and Inara isn't Auntie 'Nara because I thought it would be obnoxious. I never called close family friends Aunt or Uncle so I didn't do that here and I think it works. Makes it more like the kids are friends with Wash and Inara and they aren't "authority figures" to them or anything.)

So I guess you'll be pleased to know that after orientation tomorrow, I'm going to start focusing on the next chapter of this. I don't know if you'll laugh, snort, and cry again but I can try for that reaction, can't I?

This comment seriously made my night. And I just want to let you know that I never thought you were an a-hole or anything for not reading this: We all have our preferences and sometimes we don't want to try something because it's not our bag. I almost didn't read [livejournal.com profile] thecricket's Becoming Sleepers because I don't like angst. (I'm glad I did read it because it seriously rocks a whole lot.)
