[ profile] jaynedancing has already linked to this, but in response to the foaming man-hater posing as a feminist's diatribe against Joss Whedon's alleged misogyny, this LJ-er wins the internets.

Best response ever; no one needs to say anything else about the subject.

That was the best thing ever. I particularly enjoyed the use of screencaps to prove the various points! XD

Yes, they made me realize just how oppresive Zoe was to Mal. You know she meant that "sir" sarcastically and didn't feel any REAL respect for him!!!

Of course not - she did her dead level best to undermine his fragile masculine confidence at every turn! Let's not even go into what horrors she perpetrated upon Wash on a constant basis.

Out of curiosity, I did some searching and found that original post... and couldn't stop laughing. What a sad, sad person.

She... she forced her sexual attention on Wash. :'( Sure, he was smiling at the time, but that was just his way to deal with the trauma!!!

Her ebil vagina will be the end to us all!

Yay! This bares spreading around. The origonal thing gave me the itchy, vaguely I-feel-dirty-heebie-jeebies, the response is a nice brain bath with soothing herby bubbles. :D

I couldn't even make it through her post. I got to "Zoe is oppressed! See, cuz she calls Mal 'sir!!!'" and had to stop. Because, you know, it's not like there's context for that or anything.

Exactly and honestly you are not missing anything but stuff that would make you furious/nauseous.

That was great, the original one, not so much. It made me feel ashamed for the human race.

It doesn't matter what they're uh.. fundamentaling about, I can't deal with fundamentalists.

She obviously has nothing to do but go to extremeist feminist conventions and put waaaaaaay to much thought into a TV SHOW!!!! If we could convert the energy she put into her stupid rant we could power a third world country.

I didn't make it past the Zoe calls Mal "sir" either. But she's right....Zoe should definitely address her superior officer in this way..... "What up, dickhead?" *eyeroll*

Dumb people give me headaches...

Dude, none of that was even feminist. Feminism is about equality between the sexes, not raising women up and denigrating men. It's too bad that that's the popular perception of the movement and with whackjobs like that first poster claiming to speak for feminism, it sets all us women back several fucking steps.

But anyway, I think Zoe saying "What up, dickhead" would be so shockingly hilarious. No one would know what to say; they'd just stand there blinking in stunned surprise.

Help! I'm being oppressed!

And that excellent analysis didn't even get into the most misandrist episode. That's right, I'm going to go there: Heart of Gold.

Having left the Companion's Guild for being too soft on men, Nanda has established her own territory on an isolated rim planet, where she and her assistants extort money and sexual favors from the plantet's helpless men. When the man finally rise up in rebellion, the men of Serenity are forced to come fight against them! Not content to use our hapless "heroes" as cannon fodder, the women of Nandi's ranch force the Serenity's men to service them (sexually and otherwise) the night before the big battle. Most of this duty falls to Jayne, but look - he's so stupid that he actually enjoys it! Other "high points" of this episode include:
- Mal is made to guilty when Nanda is killed during the course of maintaining her empire.
- Kaylee sees the power that Nanda's crew wields and imagines ways that she could be a more powerful woman.
- Wash once again seeks to assert himself and has his spirit crushed by Zoe.

It's like being back in English class again - I'm firmly convinced that some of those people were picking their arguments out of a hat and then warping the text to fit.

I love this response! It's both creative and well put!

I couldn't believe that original when I read it, at first I wasn't sure if it was some kind of joke itself! After due consideration, I've decided that that women is both sexist and racist, and lacking of any human decency.

For example, I just be she'd say that a man opening a door for a woman was mysoginistic (sp?), and a women opening a door for a man was being enslaved by him.

She must be a very lonely and unhappy person.

Anyone who could seriously accuse Joss of being a misogynist needs to have their cranium excavated for a brain.
